Fill Material for Brushes and Brooms

Proex is polypropylene and this product derives its' name from the X-shape of the bristle. The most widely utilized and versatile filament combination is a blend of Proex and Crimped Wire. This particular material is very efficient and used as an all purpose filament for indoor and outdoor sweeping applications, comprising humid or damp conditions. Proex is not suggested for any high temperature sweeping applications.

Another frequently used fill material in sweeper brushes is Nylon. This highly productive filament is very efficient in dry sweeping surroundings and these applications in long lasting brush life. Nylon is great for high temperature surroundings due to its high melting point and durability. It also works well on rough surfaces. Nylon is also a material option which is more flexible and is longer lasting in scrubbing applications. When surroundings are wet or humid, nylon performs less accurately.

Made of a mixture of Tampico fibers and Palmyra, Union fiber is material that is very effective for sweeping fine particle debris and is utilized for dust control. As opposed to various synthetic materials, Union has a rather shorter wear life. Normally it is mixed with wire so as to provide more stiffness in general.

Grit is a Nylon filament that consists of silicon carbide grit particles. Grit filaments come in a variety of sizes like for example: 070"/46, .050"/80, .035"/180, .022"/120, and .018"/500. The first number refers to the filament diameter. The stiffer the bristle, the higher the number and the second number means the particle size. Grit is labeled similar to sandpaper; the smaller the grit size translates to more aggressive scrubbing ability.
