 Sweeper Parts Garland - Garland City is a northeast town of Dallas City and is a critical piece of the Forth Worth-Dallas Metroplex. The majority of Garland City lies within Dallas County, although small parts are situated within Collin County. It is the 12th most populated city within Texas with a current population of roughly 227,000. There are two DART Light Rail Line transit stations situated within the city of Garland. One is at Jupiter Road and Forest Land whilst the other is situated in Historic Downtown Garland. The D/FW International Airport is located about half an hour away.
The area was first settled in 1850 with the community officially being launched in 1874. The settlement was named after the corn mill which was constructed by a man named Moles on the northwest bank of Duck Creek. Luckily for the settlers, the black soil was ideal for growing cotton. Cotton quickly became their primary agricultural product and, by the year 1867, two cotton gins had been constructed. A post office was finally established during 1878.
In recent years, Garland City has seen numerous notable developments; particularly within the northern part of the city. During the year 2003 Garland City opened Hawaiian Falls Water Park, which was followed soon by both the School District's Special Events Center and the Firewheel Town Center in the year 2005. The Firewheel Town Center hosts over one hundred businesses within an outdoor mall background.
Along with Trammell Crow Company during the year 2009, the city of garland completed a private/public agreement so as to develop the old courthouse and parking lot located between 5th Street, 6th Street, and on the North Side of Austin Street into a transit oriented development referred to as 5th Street Crossing. This development contains over 189 residential apartment units together with 11,000 SF of flex retail. The downtown DART Rail station and City hall are situated cater-corner to 5th Street Crossing.
